We are thrilled to have an excellent line up of industry experts to judge our 2025 Junior Chocolate Masters competition, taking place on Thursday 24th July 2025 at the UK & Ireland Chocolate Academy.

Nicole McKenzie

Nicole McKenzie, the founder of Kiomi Cakes and winner of the UK & Ireland’s Junior Chocolate Master 2018. Inspired by her Jamaican heritage and a childhood filled with Caribbean and British flavours, she developed a passion for baking early on. Her love of chocolate grew as she trained, leading her to create everything from elegant desserts and afternoon teas to intricate wedding cakes and showpieces.

Nicole is driven by the art of transforming quality ingredients into something new and delicious. She’s especially inspired by how each chef’s unique background influences their creative approach to dessert.

 

Marc De Marquette

Marc De Marquette

After training at Lenôtre in Paris, Marc opened up his shop in Chelsea London in 2006. In the 20 years, Demarquette Fine chocolates have won over 70 gold medals from around the world, including the first triple gold Stars for the unique blend at Or Noire

Marc has been called upon to judge a number of competitors including craft chocolate Salon du Chocolate Salvadore Brazil,  Great Taste Awards and The World Chocolate Masters Regional finals, Marc has also served a number of years as board member of the Academy of Chocolate and judged many products submitted to the annual awards.

Marc has created award winning counter products for all three of London’s prestigious department stores and has an enviable list of corporate clients.

He now enjoys a slower tempo consulting and mentoring incredible and passionate individuals.

You may have spotted Marc a few times as a guest presenter at the WCM finals in Paris!

Sarah Hartnett

Sarah Hartnett

As an Ambassador for UK & Ireland, Sarah works closely with customers to develop pastries, desserts and confectionery in a variety of ways- through training, hands-on classes and demonstrations.

Cork-born, Sarah relocated to London after a 2 year course at CIT, where she completed the Advanced Diploma in International Culinary Arts, achieving the Victor Ceserani award for the highest practical marks.

Sarah has held positions in Claridges’ and the Sheraton Grand hotel in London. An active member of the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts, Sarah is joint-chairman for the pastry committee for the Annual Awards of Excellence, held annually to inspire and encourage candidates to self improve and learn new skills. A competition enthusiast, Sarah has been on the judging panel for the NCOTY in the UK since 2007.

In 2010 Sarah was awarded the Craft Guild of Chefs Pastry Chef of the Year. Also in 2010, Sarah was awarded the EAME Starwood “President’s Award”. More recently in 2014 Sarah received an Honorary Fellowship by Westminster Kingsway College for Excellence in Education. Two years later in 2016 Sarah was also recognised as a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts.

Sarah is currently Executive Pastry Chef for Smart Group.⁠
