Elena grew up in Mexico City inspired by her mother and grandmother's baking. After studying culinary arts in Mexico City and Spain, she worked for 8 years in the food industry. When she moved to Chicago, she opened Masa Madre. She's a passionate foodie and environmentalist striving to make MM a creative, unique, and sustainable bakery where she can share the flavors of her childhood.
