Artisan Bread Demonstration at University College Birmingham
On Thursday 4 February we were delighted to welcome two
gentlemen from Flour Power City Bakery, London; Messieurs Manuel
and Olivier Favrel who demonstrated to a group of 15+ candidates,
the art of and science behind quality bread making. Manuel produced
a range of breads including Rye and Sour Doughs which provided
clear examples of the products that are regularly produced within
their establishment. Those present were reminded of the value of
correct flour choice and shown the processes involved and the
critical importance of temperature control.
To complete the demonstration, everyone was treated to a tasting
session of the baked products and sample freshly baked loaves were
available for everyone to take home. From the look on everyone’s
face and the number of conversations about taste and texture, it
was evident that the event had been a great success.
